Hi all,

recently ive been thinking about screen real-estate. A large portion of screen is taken by the operator name when on desktop. This is taken over (hidden) by the desktop menu toolbar when editing the desktop. However, when viewing desktops its just dead space.

Would it not make sense to create an app that would essentially merge the "desktop command execution widget" with "custom operator name", so that there is something displayed there?

One thing for example would be battery % and uptime or ip. Not a lot could be squeezed there, but what will be can save some real estate from the desktop itself.

Some cons however would be that (1) you cannot view it while editing the desktop and (2) manual updates (e.g. when pressed or when desktop switches) are not usable.

I would love if someone would take this a bit further and also to hear about other users' opinions
