I also tryed yesterday and had the same problems, it is a server failure so if you are able to access the site again make a copy of it, I'm afraid it might get lost forever.

Yes, I guessed that might be the case.
I managed - at last - to save copies of these pages listed on the site :

" Documentation :

FAQ
FAQ 2
Usage guide
Firmware dump
Firmware Pieces
FIASCO format
Local flash
Nokia tips
BUG Report
License
Oops "

I DO hope I didn't miss anything important.

I also downloaded the 0.4 source and debian/ubuntu package,
just to be on the safe side.

Would it be a good idea to have the contents of this site
on the garage site for 0xFFFF ?

BTW, there's a copy of fiasco-gen attached to bug 7972. The binary does run on Diablo, but I'm not sure I trust it - either I'm doing something wrong or it seems to randomly truncate the last part specified on the command line here.

I think you won't be able to upload them to its garage page, but you could put them in the wiki or attach them in a tar.gz or zip file in the 0xFFFF announcement thread

[EDIT: I had previously been unable to find an answer to the question posted above. In response to the guess that I originally posted here, Bundyo has explained the real reason (Post #18). My original uninformed guess has served its purpose and is therefore now deleted.]

Right, I didn't think of that.

But the problems I had before
(see post #10, http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...4&postcount=10 )
still remain :

Access to that site, www.nopcode.org/0xFFFF/ ,
was erratic when I tried now.

So Maacruz's post #11 ,

is still valid.

I would again suggest that maemo.org should host copies of the 0xFFFF files.
Maacruz suggested the "announce" thread or the wiki,
but I haven't found either.
(0xFFFF is briefly mentioned in an N900 wiki.)

Any suggestions?

Search fu: The "announce" thread http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=5567
There is no page about 0xFFFF in the wiki, I was just making a suggestion. But, given that the wiki can be edited by anyone and could be vandalized, the thread is a safer location although harder to find.

In the absence of a better informed explanation, my guess is that it's left over from Tear's origin in Apple Corp's Webkit/Safari. It's just another way to keep Apple's customers locked in their iTunes jail.
Sorry, this has nothing to do with Apple's quest for World dominance. Just the GTK port at that time relied on CURL and wasn't very good at detecting the content-type (and the downloads were a quirky patch accepted in the main branch much later when CURL was scrapped).

This is the version 0.3.9

What about the v0.4?
is the GUI version working correctly in a N800/N810?
In the official webpage I only can see the source code,
is there any repository including this packet?

Just don't use dd, mtd flash memory is not safe for dd (any bad block would interrupt the dump leaving you with a broken image), use 0xFFFF or mkfs.jffs2 to build an image.
There are some threads here about how to use mkfs.jffs2 and the dualboot scripts are a good example.
I have attached here a build of 0xFFFF for the tablets, since you won't find one in its home page.
