Anyone (developer) kind enough so as to provide us with an applet/widget/shortcut/statusbar icon to call out the virtual keyboard?



This would come in handy trying to search for stuff without rolling out the hardware keyboard, eg when n900 stands on the kickstand and playing music...

i have thoroughly gone through the forums and noone seems to be interested in my suggestion!

everybody is asking for a virtual keyboard in portrait mode, even though they can't call it out in apps if there's no textbar to click on!!

Why would you need an applet for that? You could click any textbox to show it automatically right? And if I get what you're saying then it's not possible to replace hardware keyboard with onscreen keyboard. The onscreen keyboard was just made solely for text input(you can't do shortcut press or simulate keys as left, right, down, up etc on games). If you would be able to show onscreen keyboard on any applications that doesn't have text input it would be rendered useless. Perhaps lets just cross fingers and wait for meego and hope for a much fuller integration of onscreen keyboard.
Oh! 1 more thing... If the meego OS is made for none hardware qwerty phones then smile... LOL meego would grant your wish.

I asked for an applet that can call out the Virtual Keyboard when there is no textbox available... eg Media player, Recent phonecalls, Contacts... practically everywhere except the browser (ok, I mistakenly referred to the browser) ?!

I am too trying to find a fix to get the virtual keyboard to pop up. It’s a big problem trying to find contacts in landscape mode when the N900 is in a car holder.

So has anyne found an easy way to find and dial a contact when the phone is in landscape and is locked into a car holder? If anyone has a solution I would be very grateful if you could share it with us.
