I read the other day that the N800's keys are implemented using the TSC2301 chip. It allows you to make a 4x4 keypad, using 8 inputs that encode the nth line and column.

I was thinking: would it be possible to solder some wires over the N800 keys to build a (very kludgy and hackish) keyboard?

I wish I had some keys on the back of my N800 to use as a GKOS keyboard. http://gkos.com/ If we could somehow activate those keypad inputs from alternative buttons we would only have to implement the driver then...

Does someone who has opened their N800s imagine this could be possible? Are the keys soldered in a way that we can mess with them?...

Every other alternative involves either USB or bluetooth, and that's just too much work. If we could just solder some new buttons somewhere it would be perfect! =)

why not get a usb host mode adaptor and a super-tiny USB keyboard or similar widget from Brando?
