You can use the USB connection / Windoes transfer wizard.
Or copy/paste them from the DCIM folder.
Personally, I copy them via SSH over WiFi
As for the little pictures of websites - ?!? - have you used the screenshot option - CTRL-SHIFT-P which grabs a copy of your current screen as a photo, and puts it in the DCIM folder?
Also when i went to photos on the n900 theres was a bunch of little pictures of websites i visited why and is there a way to stop that?
