That was in every bodies day. Cheap "Apps" and "App Games" from mobile phone stores started with Apple four or so years ago. And he has a right to complain if a developer is offering the same thing for a different product at a cheaper price than your own. Sure, it's the developers right to do so, but that doesn't make it right.

I haven't bought any apps on Ovi store (mostly, I don't see anything worthwhile buying, I didn't buy my N900 as a gaming device, so I don't really see much point in buying games).

However, I *did* buy music from Ovi Store in South Africa. While there were troubles (issues downloading tracks from an album if your original download fails - hopefully they will fix this, but individual tracks are unaffected), they were resolved adequately by the support. There was a temporary reservation (but my bank shows me "uncleared transactions" separately, and it showed up here only) which was reversed, but no other transaction fees (I paid exactly what was shown).

But, as I see it, there seems to be some FUD in this thread.

1. Transaction fees. ACAICT, the OP misinterpreted a (temporary) reservation on his credit card, which was reversed. The rest ($0.63) seems to be charged by his bank.

2. The other complaint was about price, but surely the developing house sets the price on the Ovi store?

So, what is there to complain about? Nokia reversed the temporary reservation on the card. Nokia can't know if/how much transaction charges are (if they for some reason can't take payments in a local currency). Nokia (AFAIK) doesn't determine the price of the software.

The pricing issue can only be fixed by the developer, and most likely better market penetration (of Qt) will improve this in future.

While I can understand there may be regional issues with Ovi Store, in a small third-world country, we seem to be served OK. While there are areas for improvement, I wouldn't consider it a disaster.
