Been having an issue for the past month or so, thought I'd drop it in here and see if anybody has it.

I've been having issues with notifications (SMS, most noticeable) becoming ridiculously slow after only 8 hours of uptime. Here's an example;

Device is locked. An SMS comes in. I unlock the device, hit the task switcher button and there is a noticeable 3-5 second lag before the notified window turns yellow and I am able to select it. This does not happen after a fresh boot.

I've completely removed the database, still happens after ~8-10 hours. I've poked through every single running process in attempts to find something that's orphaned and causing a leak or DB RW. Nothing. I've checked init.d and event.d scripts - nothing out of the ordinary starting up. It happens with my kernel, BFS kernel, community/power kernel and the stock kernel.

Any idea? It's *only* notifications that I seem to have this issue with. Of course I have done a lot of knackering around on the device, but nothing that would cause this.

Any idea?

Swap, probably. All the code that handles the notification routines probably get pushed out to swap.

Here's an easy way to tell. When you get multiple SMSes within a short period of each other, is the first one slow and the rest fast?

Yes and no.

I've set I/O pressure and swappiness to relatively low values. Basically everything is staying in memory right now, except for when huge tasks happen.

I can go so low as to disable swapping for a diagnostic measure. That will suck though :P

I think this is probably related to the "Slow and unresponsive after 3 days" thread. (Even though in this case it is happening in less than a day)

I have the same issue, probably at first I didn't notice through my rose colored N900 glasses, but it has become quite a bottleneck.

Unfortunately in my case all text messages arrive with the same sluggishness, so it's perhaps more complex than just a swap issue. I have very little installed these days - almost factory standard, no widgets other than simple calendar.

Maybe something wrong in the theme or transitions.ini?

You are right, kind sir.

I seem to have mitigated it by adjusting my transitions to something more sane. Will advise after a few days.
