I can't link you guys to my corporate intranet blog, but I *can* share some of the content!

I am working to get the tablet(s) used more within our company (don't ask ). To that extent, I will be periodically blogging on the N800 and offering ways it can be used. I will also be writing about user experiences so I plan to start a scientific thread here soon soliciting good, usable feedback (no mindless rants, please... lol).

Anyway, here was my kickoff blog:

Since I first got hold of the 770 Internet Tablet, I had one goal foremost in mind: enable it for use within the walls of the company.

What first seemed like a simple task turned out to be an exercise in frustration. There was no VPN tool at first, and even when one (Mano) was released, I encountered shortcomings. My desire was to use the tablet as a mobile audting tool, freeing auditors from the burdensome task of recording issues on a paper sheet (!) and then later transcribing them to a computer. Come on, guys! This is the 21st century!

One shortcoming of using the N800 internally was that reports generated on the fly by SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services could not be easily accessed by the devices. It wasn't a technical issue but rather one of configuration (I have since learned a workaround).

I've long since moved on to the sleek N800 as the preferred device, but am still facing challenges. However, I refuse to give up. So, in a following article, I hope to provide a detailed how-to that describes how to use an N800 in a production environment. Stay tuned!

Will do. The current drawback is the VPN tool being in alpha state and I can't get replies back from the developers on my bugs. *sigh*...
