Drop it about $150 and ship to out to the US and you'll fair better.
I have 3 N900s in my possession right now, didn't get hit by duties or any of them. Electronics are covered by the Free Trade Agreement as far as I know.
I highly doubt you'll sell this in Canada, especially for more than $200. Sorry to burst your bubble.

1) I have to wait for an un announced time till I get 3G in my area...
2) Cant program anything myself as I am not a developer...
3) I don't find the phone integrated that much with the gmail /other cloud services to manage contacts, calendar, etc efficiently.
4) Other personal preference problems...
