Is this me alone suffering from this or this is defect in n900..whenever i try to dwon application from any other sites it gets install from defult application manager..and it takes too long time for installition..says preparing for installition only!!

app manager takes forever. keep waiting, it might take ten minutes.

Or, download the .deb file and install from xterm as root, dpkg -i filename.deb

There are a few solutions to this problem.

1) just wait for it to finish.

2) temporarily disable some of your repos. if you're not installing something from a repo, have it disabled. The development repo especially, (since it is quite large) seems to choke the device. Ovi store repo also seems to slow it down.

3) use fapman. http://maemo.org/packages/view/fapman/ it works very well, but it will report errors sometimes.

4) use the terminal and apt-get. It's the fastest way to update, upgrade or install.

Yeah 3 & 4 seems to b great but still i dont want to rely in fapman...it shows error after downloading tons of application..so the ultimate choise is no 4...
Now here is my other question...using x terminal command i only can download apps tht are listed in my application manager or from somewhere else also?
