I have been trying to get knots 2 running on my n900 for a total of 48 hours and I have all but given up.

I can see the videos on the n900 in the knots 2 app, however I cannot get them to play. Whenever I attempt to play a file through the local host, It says "Unable to stream or clip file" and when I check the remote discovery, it says "Your server doesn't seem to be accessible from the internet. Check your firewall/router settings. Open/forward port 1978 and at least two other starting from 19780."

I have all the ports and everything asked for opened up.

I believe the issue is with the vlc player. According to the wiki there are issues with 1.1. and up. I am running 1.1.9 and have tried downgrading to everything from 1.0.6 down. Once I downgrade however, VLC stops working entirely, and I get the same as above.

I am running Windows 7 64 bit home premium edition.

Try the "Passthrough" profile. I think that was the one that worked for me. However I never saw this app stable (maybe it was the server or VLC as you state).
