If Nokia sells away (most of) the smart phone patents, it would be virtually impossible for them to re-enter the smartphone market.
No Nokia left in this scenario.
Linux for years seemed to fight making a simple ux which the majority of cpu users need. In effect just handing the consumer market to MS.
I'm no fan of MS but I have to applaud bill gates for giving back a large portion of the truck loads of money he stole from competitors/consumers
which cant be said for jobs who died on a pile of cash and in his dying breath wanted to spend every last dime to crush android.

Companies deny everything before the official announcement.
What if Microsoft really bought Nokia's smartphone division leaving Nokia in Finland to produce dumpb-phones and would-be smartphone alternatives?
Wouldn't Nokia have more reason to concentrate on Maemo/Meltemi for those would-be smartphones then?
I just want to say I feel this has a lot to do with apple's greed. If they would have made some reasonably priced products they would probably be ahead of MS or at least on par. They basically priced themselves right out of the market. It wasn't until about a year ago that they actually made a sub $1,000 notebook ..$999.99 lol.
