With a lot of trial and error, I was able, I think, to pair the treo 650 with the 770. However, I cannot make connection. When using the phone for inet connect, it gave an error message, phone connection failed. can anyone walk me through the pairing. It is not easy for a newbie, TIA

Do you have your Treo in modem mode via the Bluetooth app? You have to switch it by hand to enable Dial up networking.

I have no problem with my Cingular Treo 650 and my N800. First you have to pair them, of course. Then on the 650, when you turn on BT, you have to set "Dial-up Networking:" to "ON".

Thanks for the info. I have tried both, with DUN on/off, same error message "Connected to phone failed..." and I also found the following from above post:

Re: Nokia 770 bluetooth tethering with Cingular phones help

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

hey thanks to all of you guys that replied. Big thanks to ninja. I got it working.

My problem was I was on 2006 edition. I upgraded to 2007 HE and then paired up using the bluetooth util not the phone bluetooth util and everything worked perfect.

I love my IT now and woot.com

Well, it is lunch time, I am playing with my 700. I notice the Remote Device address on my Treo 650 is NOT equal to the BT address of the 700. And on my Treo, the paired 700 is listed as Type Unknown. Just wondering what is the listed info on your N800 or 700 if you have gotten it to work?

TIA

With my N800 and my 650 paired ...
On the 650, the BT addr agrees with that of the N800 and the type is "PDA".
On the N800, the BT addr agrees with that of the 650 and the type is "Phone".
