Wrote this on Tweakers.net

Well, my wife´s N900 USB connector broke the second time.
(And with the first repair a part of the keyboard lighting died.)

So She got without further discussion or notfication an N8, for my wife that's not a problem.
Some things on the N8 are a clear upgrade compared to the N900.
Moreover, she is not puzzler with Linux so ... no problem for her ...

Butt...THE N8 LOCKS ALL THE TIME ... nice and handy ... BACK TO the care center again after we return from our holiday.
(Or wait for Anna and see if that makes a stable system.)

MY N900 ...
From the start it had GSM network errors
last few months, it regularly threw out my SIM.
Now it accepts the SIM no longer.

And GPS never worked (on my N900) without SIM.
This N900 has lost, for me, two of his key functions

So mine has to go back to Nokia as well.
Now it seems that Nokia is taking back the N900, replacing it with N8.

Aargh ... I use my N900 for much more than phone and navigation.

Also, the N8 is much less appropriate for me given the lack of a keyboard.
Physically, I have problems with a virtual keyboard.
I have tried it now and it's very very very difficult for me.
Leaving aside Symbian^3, if you're used to 250MHz to 1GHz. Maemo5.

All in all;
I am very disappointed in Nokia.

The N8 is many many dollars cheaper. Should we just accept a cheaper replacement ?
And Without any consultation?

In the past year, my wife and I have used 3 top of the range models (according to Nokia). All broke.
My brother-in-laws N900 has the same problems as my N900 (SIM still works) That makes 4.

How does Nokia do it?

To be fair, problems with the N900 (software) where more or less expected.
But technically not stabel? Well.....

Bringing mine to the care center this afternoon ... see what hapens after my vacation. Will miss the N900.

Telling them also that the N8 is a *** thing, until now.

Rumors:
"According to Nokia Care Center Alkmaar it's possible that a batch of N900's wil be available soon.

"Railion reportedly, is to throw out it's 500 a 600 N900's, replacing them with iPhone and iPad's
"... But this can (will) take months.

I will probably never return to this forum.
First on holliday

Greetings all.

Sorry about that. In case you cannot get a new N900 I would suggest to strongly insist on at least getting an E7, because of the keyboard.

if you are really very attached to the MID (Mobile Internet Device) concept, you may want to try some local online market place. there are sometimes ppl who are offering a N900 they got as replacement from NOKIA for a "dead" one.

Back from a fantastic holiday,

Update:
A week ago we received a mail from the care centre.
Nokia send me a new N900.
Going to get it tomorrow, simultaneously leaving my wife's N8 for repairs !
I am Happy.
My wife is not. She has had it with Nokia, this will be my last Nokia.... Ever, she says.

Thx for the support.
