Hi everybody,

this is alex, and i got my nokia 770 on 07.07.07. date so i guess i'm very lucky, but i'm a little greedy and i saw some youtube videos about canola and i become obsess to this display looking,i think it's georgeous..

i download it from here
http://openbossa.indt.org/canola/

and when i try to install from nokia application manager it says some file missing.

does any canola professional users give some tips to download this properly and to see this kind display on my nokia 770, i really like to know what's the best way to get canola and some advice about using it..

untill now i only download canola, if i wanna uninstall it where should i go to find it, becouse memory wise i don't want to keep unnecessary files..

i will really appriciate any input about canola and advices from other canola users.

thanks

I installed canola day before yesterday, from maemo.org, downloads, clicking the green intall button. I believe it adds some base repository to your list to avoid conflicts of missing dependencies

Shoot...at least it tells you something important. I try to install Pidgin via the instructions on their site and I get nothing but "Package not found."

LOL, I got mine 2 days earlier. I did what you did and failed. Then I added a New repository, tried again, and it worked. Try...

run Application Manager

press Menu key

choose Tools/Application catalog...

choose New...
  • Web address: http://repository.maemo.org
  • Distribution: herring
  • Components: main
Good luck!

Too new to tell but Canola seems really cool.

I think the previously mis-firing files get cleaned up automatically but I don't know. APT is the name of the system. Wikipedia covers it but I just skimmed. Oh BTW, similar to adding a repository you can look at the APT log via Application Manager.

Because of this thread I just installed it with no problems. It's really beautiful.
First I added the repository suggested by dmphzhopjrbffx then I went to http://openbossa.indt.org/canola/ as mentioned by nokialex7707. I clicked on the install link and followed the instructions. It installed without a hitch. Now it's time to play with it.

I recommend don't use canola as it's low efficiency. Canola plays the video file (high quality setting to N770) much slower compared with the simple UI in MPlayer.
