I flashed my n9 to the dual boot kernal. I wish i hadn't because jelly bean runs like a dog and i hate using it but no harm done except for all my accounts asking for passwords constantly which unusually fixed itself by doing a restore.

Only problem i'm left with (which seems different than before) is the phone seems to stay connected to 3G when i've been home for hours, even when my wifi connection is in the automatic list. I'm sure it used to default to wifi.

does anyone know what's happened?

Somehow, It happens to me too from time to time

The only way to fix it, is to reboot the phone

I'm experiencing some internet issues myself. I cannot get ANY connections to work automatically. ALL connections work, but only if i select them manually. A reboot did not help.
This problem has happened since i installed unrestricted ui. Only hacky brightness and led notifications installed.
I have no idea how that could have anything to do with this problem, though...

It switches from 2G to 3G fine. Just fails to switch over to wifi automatically

Have you definitely got "allow background connections" turned on?

Yes. The problem is that it never wants to disconnect a connection. So I will leave my house and it will still show that I am connected to my home wifi even if I am miles from my home. However, as soon as a program needs the internet (facebook/twitter/RSS feeds) it will find my 3G no problem without me manually changing anything. This used to be done autmatically.
And, like you, when I enter my house it will stay on 3G instead of connectiing to my wifi, even though it is an automatic connection...

I had the same problem as the OP come up a little over a month ago after switching sim cards. I went from tmobile to platinum tel which is a tmobile virtual network operator so the apn actually stayed the same. There were no other changes to my phone. The only way I got the phone back to normal was to do a hard reset (soft reset didn't work). I suspect there is a config file with the info somewhere in the user's home directory, but not sure where it would be.

Thanks to thedead1440, my automatic connections are working as they should again.

Code:
gconftool --recursive-unset /system/http_proxy
gconftool --recursive-unset /system/proxy
gconftool --recursive-unset /system/osso
Running these commands as user removes all connections. I rebooted and added connections again and it works perfectly.
