I just got my new 770 yesterday from buy.com. It already has OS 3.2006.49-2 installed (I believe the latest version). I have a few questions, and yes, I know some are answered in other places/posts/threads, but the majority of the info I find is from late '05 up to mid '06, and mentions earlier versions of the OS. So I'm not sure if the posted techniques work with the latest OS or not (or possibly not necessary). So here goes:

o File/Directory browser. Is the gpe file browser the generally accepted/"best" one. I need something that allows me access to all of the filesystem (I realize I may need to be root for some/most of that). Something ala konqueror (I want to make directories, move/copy/delete files, etc.)

o USB Master enabled. I'd like to be able to use a mini USB keyboard, and possibly connect external USB drives and/or flash cards (like to transfer pictures from a camera card to USB hard drive, etc.). Yeah, I know I need a powered USB hub.....

o Does the Maemo BT plugin conflict with Maemo Mapper's bluetooth capability? (my BT GPS isn't in yet...)

o How much is something like an xterm, or an ssh server really required to get to a command prompt?

o Network view info - I'd like something handy to view the IP address, name server, MAC address, etc. without dropping to an xterm and using ifconfig.

o What's really backed up in the "back up"? Just settings? I'm curious how much of the "hacking" is backed up (say to enable the USB host mode, etc.), and how much needs to be re-done if you ever reload/reflash?

o A good windshield mount/holder for the 770?.

o Is a screenshield really necessary? I've had an Ipaq 3800 for 5 years, and only used a screen shield for about 3 months of that time. Only place that shows any wear at all is the area where the application close button is located. How does the touch screen of the 770 hold up?
