OK, this probably counts as the bleedin' obvious, but it's always possible that I'm doing something wrong. I got my new 770 yesterday, charged it up, installed the MMC card, and paired it with my phone. The problem is, it keeps crashing. It doesn't do this when I'm doing anything particularly strenuous: this happens when I'm starting applications (including things like the file manager). I haven't yet managed to completely open a webpage - BBC news managed to get the HTML over my phone's GPRS connection before the tablet died again.

I've re-flashed the OS and this hasn't made any difference. The MMC card seems to be fine - I can read and write to / from it over USB. I'm guessing defective hardware, but as I say, I could be doing something wrong.

Any suggestions before I post it back to amazon for replacement?

Thanks in advance.

Without going into too much detail (in fact hardly any at all!) I would say yes, from the "symptoms" that you describe it sounds as though you are having similar problems to quite a few 770 users. There are are plenty of threads on the topic here on the board, but ultimately you will end up sending the unit back to Amazon for a refund/replacement.

Just out of curiosity - whereabouts are you located?

Thanks - sorry, I guess I should have checked the boards more thoroughly before posting! Amazon is now sending me a replacement.

I'm located in Cambridge, England.

Just to say I got a replacement from amazon - which they sent to me even before I returned the defective 770 - and I'm now a happy bunny :-)

Great stuff, to Amazon's credit they are actually quite good at sending out replacements, I needed a replacement Kingston 2GB MMCmobile card recently and there was less than a 24-hour turnaround; like you I received the replacement before I had returned the item it was replacing
