Neat from factor, price is £100 less than N800. Details are sparse.

The screen is only 640 x 240.

from: http://www.pocketsurfer.co.uk/htm/PocketSurfer2.htm

The PocketSurfer2 is a thin/sleek handheld device: Delivering the power of a monster-server in the palm of your hand.

Fast, anytime, anywhere access: A unique wireless web access solution that boots wireless output by a factor of more than 10X.
I am not sure what they mean by the last part, but a monster-server? Sounds kind of scary... Maybe that's what Scooby Doo and Co. were up against all the time?

"Spec-wise, the company is being coy – we know it has a 5-hour usage life (or 5 days standby) from its Li-Polymer battery, that it has an inbuilt GPS unit, POP/IMAP/Web mail support (including attachments), Instant Messaging and a Web browser that supports HTML and Java – but what browser? What sort of processor? Memory?"

Instant Messaging, GPS and mail support sounds interesting, although the article goes on to mention there is no Flash support, so no YouTube etc.

Given the price and "unlimited" ** data, it will be interesting to see what it's really like.

** that's a marketing "unlimited", ie it really means limited.

“If your PDA or Smartphone downloads web-pages faster than the PocketSurfer, you get a free PocketSurfer.” - apparently no one at the German IFA Trade Show has gone home with a free PocketSurfer.

As for the PocketSurfer1 - it was only a Bluetooth device, and needed a mobile phone for connectivity (a bit like the N800), whereas the PocketSurfer2 has the mobile phone technology built in.

Oh, they mean well, but don't trust them to get anything right.

it is not worth $100

i met with the company in an Exhibition . . . they don't tell you anything about the os or memory or anything that you ask about

from what i remember it dose not have GPS only map thing on the net and for the IM you use net based IM "if i remember right"

i have the catalog . . . let me find it . . . and i will inform you
