Hi,

I've had my N800 for just over 24 hours now, but unfortunately I'm having to type this on my wife's PC :-(

It will now not power up. I thought all I needed to do was plug it in to the power adapter, but unfortunately that didn't help.

I started calling the Nokia help line, but during the call I held down the power switch and all of a sudden the blue light came on around the arrow keys, then a large Nokia logo popped up on the screen, and then they both disappeared. So I tried the power supply again, but still no joy. But at least it does not seem totally dead.

Can anyone give me some ideas of what to try?

Thanks!

Paul

I have the same exact problem. Sometimes it works and other times it refuses to start up. There does not seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. I can charge the unit fully and spend some time on it - shut it down to do something else - and when I return, nothing. Very frustrating. I have tried everything to determine problem. Figure I will send this unit back to seller and get another. In meantime, if anyone has an answer to this let me know. It looks like this problem is being experienced by a number of others (this is not the only thread talking about this problem.

i've experienced something similar to this as well: when not charging/not plugged in, my N800 won't wake up (for a few seconds, it appears to try and wake up, but then just goes black). however, when i plug it in, i am able to start it up again.

i uninstalled the last 2 programs (oboe and python) and this has reversed the condition - back to normal (fingers crossed).

My first N800 did the same thing. The problem was it never took a charge. The first couple of days, if I let the unit sit for a day or so, the battery would recover enough to do a full boot, but would die shortly after.

I had to return the unit under warranty. 2nd one works fine.

It happened to me too, turns out that the chargers just suck and break by themselves. Buy one of those batteries with external chargers.
