I've had my n800 for a couple weeks now. Up until a couple days ago, upon pushing the power button while the unit's on, a window would come up with several options: locking screen & keys, etc.

Now, when I push the power button while the unit's on, nothing happens. I've tried keeping the power button depressed for a short period of time, & I've tried pushing it multiple times. I just can't turn it off. It's not a huge deal, since it just goes to sleep after a minute or two, but I'd prefer to have more control. What can I say, I'm a control freak.

It used to work just fine, so...Did I inadvertently change some power button settings, or something? How do I fix this (the right way, not some wacked way like taking the battery out)? Am I just not doing something right? The power button IS supposed to turn the unit on/off, right?

I am having a similar problem but it involves powering on....when i turn my 800 off and later turn it back on I have to hold down the power button down for more than 5 to 10 seconds..sometimes pressing it multiple times. Ive come to the point of just leaving it on in idle mode. Anyone ever had problems like this before?

Yes, you should be able to turn off the unit with the power button.

You did take the battery out once to see if the problem went away, right? I hope so.

There is a way to configure how the power button works, but I don't know it.
