i can get nmap to run with no problems but when i try and run nmapfe i get this message:
nmapfe [787] : GLIB WARNING ** Gtk - cannot open display:
does anyone have the gui nmap working on their 770? am i doing something wrong?

I'd guess you're running it as root, and `sudo gainroot' has blatted your environment. Including the DISPLAY variable - without it the X client doesn't know which X server to connect to.

A workaround would be:

run-standalone.sh ./nmapfe

Yes, I am running it as root. As a normal user it runs fine, but when i try to run it as root is when i get the error. Thanks for the help. I will try this.
