I'm getting the n810 and am now ordering a kingston 4gb miniSDhc card and I'm wonder what card reader I should get to transfer data to the miniSD card. There are bunches of cheap readers on ebay and newegg but not all say SDHC. I have access to a laptop with an SD reader but I don't know if it will read SDHC because its 2+ years old. Is it possible to just use wifi to transfer stuff to the n810 and skip the card reader or is that too slow for everyday transferring?

There's no way to transfer data over WiFi, at least not easily, but there's no reason you can't just use the included USB cable. It's the only way to access the internal memory card anyways. As for an external card reader, Newegg is very good about listing the compatibility of all of the readers they sell. If it doesn't specifically list SDHC, it probably wasn't a mistake that it's not listed. Some of the really cheap readers may not support it. If you're looking for something cheap, I'd recommend sorting by price then looking for the first one to specifically list SDHC.

I find that transferring files across wifi is the simplest: install openssh on the tablet and putty and winscp on your windows PC.

Then you can either copy files from the command line using the 'pscp' command in putty, or you can use winscp to get a window's explorer style interface (by default it uses a Norton Commander style interface, but just go into preferences and switch it to 'explorer like' then you can just drag/drop files to and from explorer). If you are transferring 500Mb+ videos then it may take a little while to complete but it works reliably.

It is worthwhile also to setup public key authentication and that way you can forget about passwords and connect easily as 'user' rather than the more dangerous 'root'.

If you do choose to get a card reader for your PC and you are running XP then you may need a patch to be able to access SDHC rather than SD cards (I think Vista only needs patched for sdhc cards over 8Gb but I could be wrong on that), but you don't need that if you just use the tablet's own usb cable.

The tiny micro-SD card readers on DealExtreme work with SDHC cards. I have two already.

(Cor the amount of times I post up on DealExtreme you'd think I worked for them )

[PS: I don't work for them!]

Yes, you're right. I only meant to say that it can't be done using the included file manager without installing additional software. I should have been clearer on that.
