I can pair them very easily. However, it's like the same thing as not having the web at all, because it's so slow.

I can load google and craigslist with alright speeds but this forum, bodybuilding.com, myspace, etc... are unbearable.

I have searched and searched and have found nothing. Are there any trouble shooting tips out there for my situation? Or should I just ante up and buy a Centro or Pearl?

I'm obviously not expecting lightening fast browsing but if you know of anything that would make the speeds more reasonable, I would really appreciate the help. I don't even know where to start.

Thank you in advanced.

I don't think that a Centro or a Pearl give you speeds in excess of the speed of your connection. Have you seen one of them in action where you use this combination? Was it fast?

Maybe someone will have concrete suggestions.

That's what I was hoping. That it wasn't my phone but I paired it with a Samsung SCH-i760 at work and it was reasonable. No where near WiFi but I remember it being quicker than my Razr.

If I am stuck with the speeds of the Razr, regardless of paired device, then that is fine. I just don't want to be always thinking "This would be so much better with a Centro".

Hello,

If I may ask-
1. Who is your service provider? (I'm guessing Verizon or Sprint)
2. The V3m is a CDMA phone. When you look at the signal bars from the location you are tethering from, Does it say EVDO or 1x? (EVDO is broadband speed, 1x is CDMA (~100-150kbps). You may just be in a 1x signal area...

The bright side of this is that for Verizon at least, tethering to a 1x connection is biled as voice minutes on your bill. Since nights and weekends are free, tethering at low speed is essentially free on nights and weekends and eats only minutes the rest of the time.

However, tethering via EVDO while faster costs $2 / day or $60 / month. It is possible to tether to EVDO without ordering the service. But, you will get caught, you will get a huge phone bill, and it will s**k.

Personally I have EVDO disabled on my razr so I can tether in a pinch without worrying about overcharges. It's slower, but costs me pretty much nothing...

hope this helps,
kernelpanic

I get great performance with my 810, a V3xx, and AT&T Media Max (Price recently went up from $20/month to $40). Most of the time its 3G in the desert outside Tucson, AZ.

Good luck
