OK. This is a weird one:

After two or three months of normal and trouble free operation of my N810 all of the sudden it reboots whenever I touch the screen!!!

The device boots and seems to work normally if it is operated only using the keyboard, but the moment I touch the screen I get the well known Nokia logo and the device reboots.

It is even more strange that during the boot procedure and while the Nokia logo is displayed if I touch the screen the device reboots again.
If I do not touch the screen at all, the device boots up normally ending up to the Hildon desktop, but the moment I touch the screen I get one more boot cycle, and so on....

As I said, the device is normally operated through the keyboard until the screen is touched. Of course one can not do so many things with the keyboard only (not even launch an xterm) but I noticed that if I invoke the Home menu and choose Calibrate screen nothing happens (a possible additional indication of the erratic behavior)

This behavior started after I copied a couple of pictures from my pc to n810 using usb cable. When I removed the cable from the unit and touched the screen, I got my first reboot followed by the behavior I described before. I also removed the battery for more than an hour with no apparent results.

Searching the forum, I didn't find any similar situations so any suggestion is welcomed. I thing that I will not manage to avoid a reflash, but at least I would like to be able to launch xterm (using keyboard only) so I can have a backup before I flash by unit.

Thanks in advance

Since there was no reply from no one, I decided to go with safe bet of reflashing the device.

All problems solved and OS is now upgraded to 51-3.

Thanks for letting us know the outcome. The info might help someone else someday. I'm glad to hear it was a happy outcome.

I'm amazed the reflash did the trick. That sure sounded like hardware...

I had a similar problem; however, my device kept rebooting after having displayed the Nokia Logo and the Nokia Logo with the outstretched hands. I have had my N810 for 2 weeks now, and have not been able to fully power on my handset for days. The device will show that the battery will charge completely; however, will constantly reboot itself after the logos have come on screen. Had tried removing the battery for several hours before trying to power it on once more and had even tried placing my device in the fridge, as had been suggested on other posts. Neither actions had resolved this error. Nokia Tech Support's only advice was to return my N810 to them. Sadly, am doing so this morning, and hope to have better luck next time round.
