Is it safe to update rtcomm in Diablo (on red pill mode) to get Yahoo, MSN, etc on IM?

I was wondering why the updated rtcomm wasn't included by default.

I dunno why it wasn't ready for diablo, but i installed the rtcomm beta and it works just fine. Didn't seem to affect anything negatively.

Probably Nokia didn't get around to talking with AIM/Yahoo/MSN about it.

Actually, the easier method is to just install the Collabora Telepathy plugins from the Collabora repo listed on gronmayer. No fiddly rtcomm beta installation required.

I followed the original instructions at http://rtcomm.garage.maemo.org and all went well.

Thanks all!

I just installed the collabora repos, but I have a technical issue. I tried adding the sipphone.profile and icons by extracting them from the rtcom-profiles_0.4.tar.gz

I copied the files over to a tmp on the internal card and used easyroot to put the files into the user/share/... folders. I have the profile for sipphone.com, but the icons aren't showing up, any ideas?

-Nevermind, turned the tablet off last night, everything was working perfectly when I turned it on today.

Those plugins are really handy. I didn't know about them for quite a long time, and they don't (as far as I've noticed) come up often when people ask how to use their AIM/Yahoo/etc IM accounts on their tablets.

I'm assuming you mean the Collabora Haze repo. Correct?

I like your method, but it's unclear to me which of the files in Collabora Haze ( if that's it) to install.

I did install " account-plugin-haze" with the result that I got Yahoo as an option for linking to an account but it doesn't end up actually establishing a link to my account.

So, what else do I need to install there to get it to work?

The Beta installer software is not working for me. Ap manager says I'm missing packages. ( doing a search on Gronmayer finds some of the packages I need are not there)

Funny, it worked fine to install RTCOMM when I used the restore utility on my first Diablo flash.

Whichever of the telepathy plugins down farther in the list you want/need. Probably just telepathy-haze, but the descriptions tell you which services they provide.

The direct installation of the plugins apparently works well if you already have a large library of dependencies installed.

I tried your method Generalantilles.

Unfortunately, it ended up being a long discouraging process of installing dependency after dependency since often you need to install one or a group of them before you can install another and so on.

Hmm, ?!($#*&%)( oh well.

Edit: When I reflash back to Chinook I can then use the RTCOMM beta installer software to successfully install RTCOMM. But when I go back to Diablo, RTCOMM will not install for me.

Sungrove, I have the name of the one you want to install. Just like me you installed the first one but you need to put the second one in as well.

account-plugin-haze 0.1-1 0.1mb
telepathy-haze 0.1.4-0collabora1 1.0mb (this one too)

Once I installed the second one all of my Yahoo attempts showed up under "Accounts". Seven times !!
