OK, this is a <really> wierd one.

Over the past few nights, I've been watching an episode or two of the Simpsons before going to bed. After I finish watching, I quit video player and then just replace the cover (not switched off) on the IT and put it away.
Next morning, I pick it up, take the cover off, nothing. Totally dead.
I hold the power button down, it's still totally dead.
The only thing I can do to get it to work is to remove the battery for a minute or so, put it back and switch it on. It then comes back to life as though nothing has ever happened.

This has happened 3 days in a row and only happens when I use the video player. If I do anything else before I put it to sleep, it's fine.

Has anyone else noticed this outrageous behaviour. Is it Simpsons related?

Does anyone have any ideas - right now, I'll listen to anything, honestly!

I had that sort of thing happening to me with the old OS2005 when I went to sleep playing mp3s. The sound service would not properly let go of the device or something and it would even sometimes manifest itself with clicking and snapping noises that would wake me up. The odd time it would lock up like you indicate and would require me to pull the battery. Sometimes it would keep the DSP powered and drain the battery dead if it wasn't plugged into the charger.

I haven't experiened any of that with the new OS2006 though. However, I generally keep the 770 plugged in over night now and rarely put the cover on while charging. So that might have more to do with it.

may i ask why u dont switch the device off over night - then turn it on the next morning - surely that 30 second start up is easier than taking the battery out ..etc...?
