There is another thread about this: CLICK HERE.

This is not as good as it seems once you read the fine print.

... providing the user is registered themself. I wonder how long until my phone number is sold to tele-solicitors to cover Gizmo's costs on this?

This is my first negative post on ts forum, and I apologize for that.

But everyone I've called gets mad at me for calling with Gizmo because of the delay between when they speak and when it gets to me. haven't been able to have even 1 complete talk with anyone before they want to hang up citing an 'echo', a pause, or weird static. hat good is 'free' when people won't chat with you for using it?

It's purpose IS for chat, but it's foibles turn people off from using it....

Just my own experience so far.

Thanks for hearing me out.

I am new to the 770. Looking for a way to voip my wife on her MacBook. I find to my horror that iChat can only text IM to Gtalk. Say it ain't so! Am I missing something? It looks like GIZMO will bridge the gap. Sad that Gtalk won't work at the hospital where I have my day job; they close all the ports at the firewall. Skype works for voip because it can be configured to slip through the http and https ports only. But I was hoping to use my 770 to voip my better half when I'm out of town. Perhaps she will be reduced to booting it into Windows. Ugh

I actually brought this up with Gizmo on their forums because I was skeptical. The Gizmo support rep and a reading of their privacy policy gave me confidence that they are not doing this. Rather they just want to get more people on their network and this is a clever incentive to do so.

My experience is that it is better quality than the average mobile phone. Also the quality of the call is much better when you use headphones rather than use it like a speakerphone. Not better than a landline though unless you are talking Gizmo-to-Gizmo.

I agree with this! I just used Gizmo for the first time today with a 770-to-PC call today, and the voice quality was excellent!

In fact, right now Gizmo is my killer app for the 770. Even if it did nothing else, the 770 would pay for itself within a year. Goodbye, long distance phone bills!

The problem with Gizmo is it's intermittent. The calls go through sometimes and not others.
