The n900 does not support usb host mode, see: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=31921. So you can't use a usb to ethernet device but there are bt to rs 232 converters available.

as I do a lot of router configuration I need a serial and a Ethernetconnector. Anyone found working USB-Adapters
for N800/N900? Can this be done with N900?
