Well I have about 1200 photos, 800 videos and 20g of music on my n900.

The n900 can’t handle this AT ALL. If I try to view a video clip there is no hope as I will have to wait about 5 minutes for everything to reshuffle??? And thumbnails to appear for new videos before I can do anything. If I try to view a video while the n900 is working hard in the background the loading balls will stay on the screen for most of the video.

Is there a fix coming for this issue. The same thing happens in the music and image gallery. Always reshuffling all the timmeeee. It looks bad when my friends are going through my videos, they end up just giving up.

If I know what I want to watch I have to go to the file manager and then manually select the video for it to work fine with no delay.

Has this been reported as a bug. If so sorry about this post. Id like to vote for the bug. i see this as a big deal as this is a big deal breaker for a lot of people who have used my phone

Very key! Put it in the bug tracker? I don't really know how all that works, but someone is going to come here and tell you to do that. lol

ye i dont wanna do a dup bug entry. this probley only happens if you have a lot of images/videos and music. the n900 cant handle it at all. pitty. hopefully it will be fixed at the next firmware update but im not going to hold my breath since S60 had the same issue and was never fixed.

This is terrible news! D: Let's hope this gets fixed. 32GB of memory should be able to hold 20GB of music and thousands of photos easily...

I want this to be an all-in-one device, and that can't really happen when storing my music on the N900 bogs it down. :/

ye im at work right now and have my video gallery open. its been hours and it still hasnt generated thumbs for all the videos. in the music gallery its just as bad but not so slow. when my friend tryed to use it he kept going back and forth through albums and it kept reshuffling while he was scrolling. the reaction i always get is "WHAT THE HELL you phone is crap". i know it can get fixed through a firmware update

How soon after you loaded all those data files onto the N900 did you try running a video?

How did you load the files?

Where did you load load the files to; internal memory or a memory card?

What format is the video in?

What the hell does PRIORITY 1- mean in the threads title?

Should we start using this new system for all threads?

straight away and 2 weeks later. it seems like the movies are taking a long time to generate thumbs

How did you load the files?
mass storage mode into the .video folder. i thought that was the issue so i loaded them through Pc suite which has the same issue. (same for images and music)

Where did you load load the files to; internal memory or a memory card?
internal memory

What format is the video in?
most are mp4's but a few of the movies are xvid avi's

What the hell does PRIORITY 1- mean in the threads title?
this is a bigger deal then you think as it has been a turn off for a lot of power users im trying to convert to maemo. after seeing something as simple as this fail they dont care about anything else. ever sinse nokia changed their hardware after the n82 a lot of nokia users i know have gone to htc windows or android phones. after all we do have to show off our new devices

Should we start using this new system for all threads?
yes lol. as more users are coming to maemo.org things are getting very messy

ok. what i did now was remove all the video from my n900. i only copied 300 videos and the issue is still there. now no videos have thumbs even though i left it for 1 hours. there is a mix of mp4's and avis'(xvid). i keep going back in and out of the media gallery and every time the odd 1 or 2 generate thumbs.
