it should be probably enough, if you both connect to some wifi AP (or create ad-hoc network, whichever seems easier to you), and one of you creates a server inside the game (and starts it)... after that, your friend should see the created local game in "join game" dialog (or similar name in menu)...
well, at least in q3a it works this way - but the engine should be the same, so I guess in OA it should work similarly...

I have the OpenArena game, can you someone help me to play it multiplayer with my friend who has it aswell, i dont know how to do it, do i play thru wifi?
