I'm having a pretty serious issue with my n900. Audio is only going through the external speaker, even with headphones attached. The headphones work just fine with my iPod. Any ideas?

Just one of the many problems with the N900. Even Nokia was surprised when they "discovered" that the original bluetooth that was supposed to be included with the phone "is not compatible" with it, so they had to give 15% off to those that pre-ordered the phone.

restart the device, if not there is a pin at the mouth of the input that needs prying out a bit i belived.

Care to elaborate? I didn't receive any 15% off

Right, the original Nokia headphones do not work with the device, despite working with every other device (TV, computer, iPod) that I've tried them with. When I connect them to the n900 the audio is routed through the external speaker.

I have a cheap set of ear buds which do work, but give very poor sound quality.

My Skull Candy headphones, which work with my iPod, result in silence with the n900 - no audio output through either the phones or the external speaker.

This is really rather irritating as generally I've had a good experience with the phone.
