For the record. I am unhappy so far with my N900 regarding the software. Considering its a new OS I'll accept that it requires time to mature.

Now I may be disappointed so far but I am exited regarding the potential. As Nokia market this phone/internet tablet as a mini computer add to that the OS and its current and potential abilities they are right.

For me the N900 was to replace my many devices including the netbook, well in theory its possible. Potentially its a real possibility.

I wanted office on my N900 so I installed Easy Debian and have access to Open Office. At the moment I cannot zoom in to the page. So I connected it to my 32inch TV and it was fine but lacking something.....

The mouse and keyboard. I tried connecting my apple keyboard and mouse (bluetooth)and it did not work.

I believe its potentially possible for that to happen in the future. Hope it does.

I recorded some videos in high format resolution and they wont play on my PSP. I have to convert to lower resolution. This means transfer the files from the phone to a computer.

Surely its possible to develop and run a video editing/converting software to run on the Phone.

Id like to push the N900 to its limit.

There ain't no way it can replace a netbook!

In real terms, the CPU is like pentium I or II class, so it may just be able to manage windows 98.

Consider what apps you had with windows 98 and that should put it into perspective. You want a video editing suite on a 600Mhz PC? You could just about run Quake 2/3 and office without win 98 falling over.

Get some perspective! You can do ALOT more with the N900 BUT it will never replace a netbook, it's just too slow for that (and even netbooks are slow!)

On average use most people would require full internet browser which the N900 has and office app which again its "has" I even had video editing software on older phones like the SE W810i. I dont see why the N900 cant have one and also have encoding/converting software.

I dont see any harm in video editing/converting software for around a 10/15mb files. Its short clips not feature length movies.

I remember windows 98 with a 533mhz processor and playing Fifa 98.

Like I said Id like to see the N900 PUSHED TO ITS LIMIT.

It may not replace the netbook in regards to hardware speed but it can act as a slower netbook model and hook it up to TV with Mouse and Keyboard presto thats some pocket size machine.for web browsing and office.

I think it can darned near replace a netbook. I have a netbook sitting next to me, and some days I just use the N900 and the Kindle sitting next to it. The last time I went out of town for a week, I left the Netbook at home and didn't miss it.

Yes for on the move you are right then again I am thinking out of the box. I normally carry the av cable with me. At home I just hook it up to the TV.

Andre Klapper has posted the link to enable the bluetooth profile so hopefully the keyboard will work, no mention of the mouse but can give it a try.

As I said in my OP I am looking to the future and the potential of this phone has.

I've done pretty much everything on my N900 but will admit its not a full blown replacement.
I guess its difficult because I don't own a netbook (a 17" Laptop instead) but I find the N900 screen a little too small to ever consider it a replacement. But Ill also say I've never WANTED to browse the internet on a phone before and I do quite often with my N900. I'm very rarely a mobile gamer but I've found myself playing Angry birds whenever I have an idol moment.

And the thing thats most important to me. With phones in the past they are just phones with a little extra, But with the N900 I feel as though I'm using a small computer.

We're in the same boat friend, And I definitely agree with your comments about the Keyboard/Mouse.
