Is using apt-get a bad idea? My upgrade has not completed.

After notification of pr1.1.1 but "not enough space", I ssh in, move a few things to /opt, "apt-get remove" a few packages, "apt-get dist-upgrade", and reboot.
The packages seemed to install OK, and no more updates are available.
But the command prompt and settings->about still say "2009-51-1". Is there anything I can/should do?
As is, I suspect the next major update will not work.

Code:
The following packages will be REMOVED:
  mp-fremantle-generic-pr
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  findutils-gnu grep-gnu libgsf-1
The following packages will be upgraded:
  apt apt-transport-https cmt-firmware-rx51 connui-conndlgs flasher flashlight-applet hildon-application-manager hildon-initscripts icd2
  libas-protocol-0 libconbtui0 libconnui libgles2-sgx-img libicd2 librsvg2-2 librtcom-call-ui0 locale-resolver-data nolo opengles-sgx-img-common

  tablet-browser-daemon tablet-browser-ui tablet-browser-view wl1251-firmware
30 upgraded, 3 newly installed, 1 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 17.6MB of archives.
After this operation, 15.9MB of additional disk space will be used.
Do you want to continue [Y/n]?

You're lucky it rebooted, mine got bricked, had to reflash... but recovering from a backup works like a charm ! :-)

I stepped in the same problem, but got it repaired by installing the required hildon-initscripts version (as a downgrade).
Commands:

apt-get install hildon-initscripts=1.26-1+0m5
apt-get install mp-fremantle-generic-pr (replace generic with your country version)

Thanks. I just tried that, using generic, and the "about" window is updated. But the hostname is still "Nokia-N900-51-1".

The hostname doesn't get updated when updating via SSU.

I had the exact same issue when upgrading to PR1.1 using apt-get (because using Application Manager it kept asking me to use NSU)

It failed because lack of space, but then I restarted the phone and open App Manager and continue the upgrade and it worked just fine.
