As I was thinking about the wonders of my Tmobile Prepaid plan, I was struck by the romance of living cheaply. I'm sure that there are sites devoted to this topic and I would welcome links to them.

I love sites such as Netflix and Rhapsody because you can stop them with no notice and start them up again when you get more in the mood for music or movies. I am currently going thru the X-Files first season but have stopped listening to Verdi operas because my mood has changed, so the Netflix plan is in and the Rhapsody plan is out.

I lived handsomely in Moscow for a few years on way less than $1,000 a month. This is while Moscow was constantly being listed as among the most expensive cities in the world. I lived in a great area near the US Embassy. You just had to abandon the idea of living like an American and live like a Russian instead.

Other thoughts on low-cost living?

geneven, I subscribe to getrichslowly, they have great tips for financial health and things like you said.

One thing I want to do once done with grad school, get married is to plant a garden in the house and grow vegetables and fruit to cut down on that cost.
