can i somehow find out why my n900 shut down??

it shuts down with about 20% battery... and dont want to start without connecting a charger...

Sound like a no battery case to me.

It depends on how you get that 20% from.

I think sw_rst happens after kernel panic occurs. You might be able to get more details from /dev/mtd2

i get permission denied when i type /dev/mtd2 into xterm... with and without root...

what should i type exactly??

is your device overclocked? if so, try lowering the frequency and/or raising the voltage.

It's a memory device that contains data, not a program that you run.You can copy it to a file by doing (as root):

cat /dev/mtd2 > mtd2dump

and then analyze the file mtd2dump with your favorite file viewer.
