When I start xephyr and "run af-sb-init.sh start" I don't see the desktop that I see on the N900, instead a large Twitter icon appears. Clicking the icon opens what sort of looks like a web page and a very broken scrolling window on the bottom of the screen. Where's all that coming from?

If you start Xephyr with "-extension Composite" you are actually turning off
the composite extension.

Try this instead:

Xephyr :2 -host-cursor -screen 800x480x16 -dpi 96 -ac -kb &
