http://tableteer.nokia.com/tableteer/os2008/ has been down for a while now. (as is the video center catalogue, see http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?t=18903)

what's going on? bug? the 627th death of the tablets? hacker attacks by androids? nokia preparing for major relaunch? ...?

(also: i didn't find any other thread about tableteer being down. am i the only one visiting this site every now and then ?)

Also the "Internet Tablet News" RSS feed (http://tableteer.nokia.com/rss/internettabletnews.xml) configured by default on all tablets. I thought briefly about filing a bug, but it's not the maemo team's problem. Who does one contact for this sort of thing?

As Nokia won't be producing any more Internet tablets, I suppose Tableteer's time had run out. The new user site should take over where Tableteer left off, once that user site is unveiled.

It's less exciting than it sounds. What sjgadsby's referring to is the change in marketing that's been announced for the tablets. "Internet Tablet" is going away in favor of something else.

Is there an announcement site you can link to. I would like to understand this more.

While I don't think Nokia ever issued a press release declaring that with Maemo 5, they'd be dropping the "Internet Tablet" name, the Nokia folks at OSiM and the Summit were quite open about the change. In fact, comments to the effect of, "Ha, you're going to have to change the name of your site," were practically the greetings they used with both Thoughtfix and Reggie.

Apparently, "Internet Tablet" is too limiting a moniker for what Nokia will be doing with Maemo down the line. That, and it seemed to be considered a bit geeky sounding.

If you go back and look through threads containing posts from the first day of OSiM 2008, you'll likely find discussion of this topic. That the N810 WiMAX Edition would be the last "Internet Tablet" was about the first bit of info we learned.

Wow! I would have thought this would have been bigger news to the community and wouldn't require someone to go back and look through threads and then parse posts for the information. Perhaps a thread or two would have been started.

... but now you are telling me it is basically old news.

There was at least one thread within the last few months. Go through Peter's old posts.
