How do I make the menu that appears after a tap & hold to come up a little further away from my finger? A lot of time, I accidentally select something else on the menu just because it was right there under my finger when the menu appears! It's even more annoying when a single click actually does something, and I have to time it right to release my finger in order not to single click nor selecting the wrong menu item.

EDIT: Sorry, wrong forum. Can the mod move this back to Maemo 5 / Fremantle? Thanks.

You need to tap and hold UNTIL you have your finger over the selection then release. IMO the pre-pr1.2 functionality was better and more finger friendly.

That's what I was trying to do. If I keep my finger until the menu appears, it would automatically select the menu item under my finger (just about 0.1s, almost instantly). So if I want to select another menu item, I have to time it right to release my finger before it chooses something else on its own.

EDIT: OK, I got it now, I need to keep holding my finger on the screen and swipe through the selection . Thanks.

You don't have to time anything. Just KEEP pressing down with your finger/stylus/implement-of-choice and then slide/drag your finger across the menu.

So:
Press.
Keep pressing as menu pops up.
Without decreasing the pressure (at least to the point that it thinks you stopped pressing) slide your finger to the menu item of choice.

Yes, it will "select" whatever option happens to pop up under your finger, but every program I've used on the N900 doesn't actually respond to the selection until you let go. So, until you let go, you're not selecting (as in pressing) anything.

Which is still a bit annoying, because sometimes it thinks you let go when you ease up on the pressure, and/or when your finger blocks the menu that pops up.

I've found using a finger on my left hand easier to select which option I need as it dosn't cover any of the txt.Even though im right handed.
Or the stylus if its in my hand of course

I think this is behavior of pop-up menu boxes is not the right one. It is logical that after you press and hold(thus emulating right-click) when you lift your finger off the screen the pop-box should stay on screen, so you can read the options and select the one you need(by touching it). Or dismiss the pop-box by touching the screen outside the pop-box area.

Agreed. It was like this pre-pr 1.2 and I liked this method much better.

I agree. However it seems to be app-dependent, some do make the pop-up stay on screen, but many don't.
