I have an N900 running 1.2009.44-1.002. I have a micro sdhc mounted as ext3. Since it has a debian chroot on it, and tracker took an inordinate amount of cpu time, I modified /home/user/.config/tracker/tracker.cfg to set IndexRemoveableMedia=false. But with the exception of the chroot the remainder of my system is fairly standard. In particular, I did not modify the eMMC. It is the factory original FAT file system.

I can take photos and videos with the camera. And I can transfer them to another computer with USB. And I can see them in the "Camera" fake directory in File Manager. (I know they are really in /home/user/MyDocs/DCIM/) In the file manager, I can open a particular photo or video and either the Photos app or Media player app will show it. But if I go to the Photos or Media player app, they do not appear under "All images" or "Videos". In the Photos app, I click on "Filter by folder" and select "Camera default folder" but get "(no images)". If I click "Filter by folder" then "Custom folder" and select "Camera" I see thumbnails of my photos but if I click on them nothing happens. And if I click on the background I get "(no images)". If I go to Media player, it says "Videos 2 clips" which are the two that caim preloaded. If I click on that I only see those 2 videos.

I tried running track-processes -r but it didn't help.

The same happens even when I don't mount the micro sdhc.

If I then use the Filemanager to copy the photos to the "Images" fake directory (which I know is really /home/user/MyDocs/.images/ and copy the videos to the fake "Video clips" directory (which I know is really /home/user/MyDocs/.videos/) then the photos appear in the Photos app under all images. and the videos appear in the Media player app under "Videos".

How do I fix this? It is really inconvenient to have to copy/move the images and videos to view them.

Interestingly, the camera directory doesn't appear to be being indexed - looks like a bug to me. The tracker.cfg file is set to watch $HOME/MyDocs/.camera (which doesn't exist) but not $HOME/MyDocs/DCIM. I'd try changing that and checking it fixes the issue - if so, raise a bug (if there's not one already).

i have now got this same issue. pictures taken with the camera can be found through file manager but do not appear to get indexed through photos app. can be located by specifying folder, but has to be done every time.

did you find a solution qobi?

does anyone have an answer to this?

i have to set photo gallery every time to custom folder to find default camera pictures.

this is same if camera set to use internal memory or card.

photos found when using custom folder but not camera default folder or all images

Obviously the eMMC counts as a removable disc. Do not disable IndexRemoveableMedia.
Or if you really want to, disable it and add the default camera/video directoriess to the WatchDirectory list.

I was actually talking to the OP. You can install trackercfg and check if IndexRemovableMedia is enabled.
