Hello all,

I'm hoping someone can help me - I'm going mental here...

This morning my 18 month old daughter locked my phone, yes, she was playing with while I was in the shower - my wife still thinks its funny.

I used a lock code about a year ago but cant for the life of me remember what it was.

After reading loads on this and other fora I've dl'd the flasher (3.5.exe) and used my imei number to get the appropriate .bin file to flash it with.

When I try to use it I get "Suitable USB device not found, waiting".

I've used the wiki, I'm holding u and getting the USB icon in the top right. The first time I plugged in it loaded the drivers so thats done. Now I dont know what else to try.

I'm worried that it might be because I'm using 64 bit Vista - any comments about this?

I've tried about 20 times now, using vairious sequences, unplugging, moving usb ports, before during etc..

As I said, I'm starting to go mental now... please help!!!

Stu.

64-bit versions of windows wont let you flash properly due to an issue with the flasher and the required 64-bit USB driver - You'll need to either use a 32-bit machine, or simply use a Linux livecd (or install Linux/winxp to a virtual machine) to be able to flash it.

Just a hint though, reflashing alone doesnt remove the device's lock code. It'll stop the device asking for it on boot, but it wont clear or reset the actual code.

If you can get the loan of a XP machine, it only takes around 10 minutes for the flash.
Or if you know someone who's got a Mac you could use the 770 flasher tool on that.

@stushez:

I think this link will help... and you won't need 32-bit windows...

Updated - thanks for your help so far.

The problem has now evolved! The flash worked, I'm back into the device. Unfortunately the sim card is not registering now.

I did notice that there is a particular firmware for UK Vodafone devices but when I supplied my iemi number to get the download I'm not sure this was the one I was presented with.

Are there any voda users who have flashed out htere? If so, did you use the voda .bin file or go with the more common/universal one?

Have you had this problem?

It looks like you are using older version than the one that was on your device. It is common problem with SIM not recognized after downgrade.
Get the latest international version and flash with it.

Hi Zlatko, you're correct - in fact my device told me that when i restored from the backup file.

Hey, ho, back to the old xp lappy then...
