The developers of the Speedometer application for the N900 at the OVI store have updated it to serve ads. The result is that the Select Connection dialog pops up every few seconds if you do not have a network connection, making it unsafe to use since it's necessary to clear it constantly while driving without a data connection.

Would anyone be interested in creating a new GPS speedometer with large readout that doesn't require a network connection? It would also be nice to display the heading or even a graphical compass.

GPSJinni has a speedometer, and a graphical compass (though not on the same screen).
