Hello everyone!

I was wondering if it was possible to boot an OS off a pen drive ,just like how we use mmc to run other OSes.
I live in India, and class 6 and higher memory cards are very tough to come by.
i mean extracting the file-system to the pen drive and booting off it(connecting it to your N900 just as you connect it when using h-e-n, through a female-female USB converter).
Is it possible?

p.s--feel free to correct me if you think i am wrong or don't know what I'm talking about!

Even if the software-side is possible, it would give your battery a run for its money, you'd get about 1 hour of operation with no way to charge while in use, and a high chance of losing data if the juice runs out... Besides why would it be better than booting from the mmc?

You can connect a flashdrive to n900 (check out h-e-n). You can also connect any other usb pheripherias as long as you have a driver to them. You cannot boot from them however, as h-e-n does not run at boot-time. This also can be fixed however, I just dont see the point, USB-host mode is a battery-vampire, and you dont want to run out of juice when you are running from an extrnal drive.

yes,i agree it'd be a battery hog, but i was just asking if its possible.
Showing off before friends is a enough of a reason, isn't it?

Yeah, destroying your file-system while the battery catches on fire is pretty much as awesome as phones can get
