Until now there were no threads about at what temperature should you realize that the N900 is at a critical point.
Mainly its due to that the n900 doesn't have a sensor for the processor itself but the battery.
So by using that i did some research and found that the processor itself works in a range of -40 C to 105 C / 0 C to 90 C
you can see for yourself by clicking this Link
here is a link to a post where it says that the battery shouldnt reach above 60 C Link
and here is a test playing a video at room temp and at 0 C outside while spraying the phone with water Link
and there were many reports saying that the temperature of the battery increase while charging, which is fine of course as it must happen with all types of batteries
the Nokia default kernel uses somewhat high voltages that increases the temperature
What is the critical temperature?
well in my opinion you shouldn't let your phone go above 50 C to 55 C, just to be on the safe side.
and if it exceeds then the best way is to shut it off, remove the battery and wait a few minutes for it to cool off.
What is the optimum temperature?
if the phone works a few degrees above room temperature then thats fine but if there is a drastic difference then you should be worried.
How to get a reading of the temperature??
Best way to get 'let's say ' accurate reading it to have installed the power-kernel
Then open the terminal and run the following codes
Now to get a reading just run this command
i hope my information was helpful.
N900 @850Mhz
My N900 changed my life and made it ALOT easier!
