Hey, let's play around with creating a new name for the Internet Tablets and their brethren. "Palmtop" and "handheld" are out there, sure, but maybe we could come up with something new and unique. No prizes offered, but the best suggestion(s) will go in a future article on my company blog (with credit and links back here).

Be creative! It could be an acronym, a combination of other words, etc.

Ok, I notice that texrat was asking us to come up with a new catchy term for a whole category\genre, not a name for specific device model\name of a product.

I personally think there are already way too many existing terms to define "small pocketable computers" : pocketpc palm\palmtop handheld pocketables... to me, the nokia internet tablets fall smack dab in the middle of 'handheld' crowd if we categorize it by formfactor alone. No new term is needed to differentiate it further just by the size of it.

Maybe we need to subdivide that genre and put more emphasis on the uniqueness of web browsing capability: surfboard, surfpad, webmeister, superpenguindude or some such..

I'm not too keen on a web-only tablet. With the feature set of the NIT (screen resolution, 2-SD slots, (potentially) good input\output mechanism) I really want it to be a internet + document handler.

I think the winning combination (to reach the biggest potential consumer base) is to give the capability of a Web pad (web 2.0+email+im+voip) AND document manager (view edit and manage popular file formats, including ms & open office files)
