As a complete newbie at this kind of thing, can anyone tell me whether it is possible to stream (for example) BBC TV to the N800. Seemingly it requires REALplayer of some sort. Although the REAL site has a Linux version it does not seem to come in an installable package for the N800.

So in summary my questions are:

1. Is it possible to view BBC TV (and other similar) on the N800?
2. If it is theoretically possible, is it practicable (given some of the comments about streaming other media)?
3. If the answers to the previous questions are positive, could you kindly explain how to do it to an N800 novice?

Thanks for your advice.

Richard

Richard, I do not know the answer if you mean streaming your actual TV stations via a media server such as Orb; however you can stream internet radio & tv [both realplayer as well as windows media] directly as follows:

Install MPlayer and the enhanced GUI front end KMPlayer.
Then you can play - bitrate/n800 cpu permitting - windows & realplayer radio and tv stations. You can find them listed at sites such as:
radio:
http://surfmusic.de/
tv:
http://wwitv.com/portal.htm

e.g.:
radio - BBC Word Service:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/me...fent_au_nb.asx

tv - Canal 13 out of Chile:
mms://streaming.entelchile.net/canal13

Just paste the above URLs into KMPlayer.

The higher bitrate stations will be more like slideshows or not play at all. Not quite certain where the sweet point is - perhaps below 250K. The quality of your broadband connection is one restraint, the other is the n8x0's cpu. Nevertheless I have found quite a few tv stations around the world and am having a lot of fun with KMPlayer[more info].
