Hey,
I've longed searched for a product like this and have no idea how it evaded my search as i often frequent engadget and the likes. On finding the N800 on Amazon i was prepared to buy it right then and there however looking at this site it appears the N810 is coming out extremely shortly.

My dilemma. Do i buy the N800 (im not to sure what the new os will provide) or do i wait for the 810 and pay double the price for what seems little gain (although ive wanted a gps for a long time).

I really need opinions here, although money isnt a problem, this is a fairly big buy for me.

I had the same dilema and decided on teh 800 as the better buy for what i wanted. 2 sd card slots = more memory space and I can use an external GPS when needed. only think i wish the 800 had was the keyboard and that is not worth the double cost in my opinion. but everyone needs to make that decision for themselves.

The kitchen sink/swiss army knife capabilities of the N810 hold little interest for me at this time.

As a former owner of a PPC-6700, I am not a fan of the slideout keyboard. I have a Nokia SU-8W keyboard and I hate even using that larger bluetooth keyboard (any buyers? I'll sell it for best offer tabularasa@sent.com). I think I'm going to just get an Apple Bluetooth Keyboard. It doesn't fold, but it's full size and it is thin and light. I can make a go of it.

I have navigation built into my car. I love the N800, and the N810 looks swell if you don't already have a tablet, but it's not compelling enough for me to upgrade to it.

I am, however, pretty impressed with the ASUS Eee PC, and I'm thinking of spending the N810 money on one of those bad boys.

Again, love the N800. N810 looks awesome, but I don't like slide out keyboards.

I would wait for the N810 to come out, I think that the transflective screen is alone worth the extra few $$

Going to use it outdoors, in sunshine? You like thumb keyboards? You'll probably need the N810. If not, the N800 could be a better choice, particularly if you prefer 2 full-size SD slots instead of a single mini-SD slot and (if you need GPS) you're fine with getting an external bluetooth GPS receiver. Lastly, the N810 is a little bit shorter, in case you plan to carry it in your shirt pocket. The N800 and N810 are slightly different beasts with a somewhat different feature set, the N810 isn't an N800 upgrade (except for the transflective screen which could definitely be considered an upgrade).

Great replies. Nokia has done it right giving us a choice. My decision was based on price and functionality. Try to think of what you need it to do and maybe the decision will be easier. The non glare screen would be nice, but I can't justify double the price for that and a slide out keyboard. I couldn't afford to spend $450 to $500 for the N810 but $229 for the N800 was a great deal. Anyway, I have a laptop so if I were to have to do any "overnight on the road" business I'd use that.

The N800 is mainly for keeping in touch with the office when I'm mobile to see if any e-mails have come in and to be able to quickly reply if needed. I don't have any problem with using the touch screen so replies aren't difficult. Skype lets me speak with friends and clients overseas. (Can't wait for video) Just this morning I was out on errands and logged on at an ACE hardware before I continued to the next stop. An e-mail told me I needed to get back here to handle business and a quick reply told them I was on the way.

I already have a GPS which I use very seldom. I hear a map feature will be included with the N800 OS upgrade. I also use it for playing tunes so the removable SD card keeps the music flowing or the video playing. Lots of options. The N800 far exceeds my expectation.

Whichever you choose I think you'll be very happy.
