I really have need for a application that will be the cross between a notepad (ala yellow sticky) and alarm clock. Or rather, a sticky that I can set a reminder time on so that it pops up (ie, possibly wakes up the tablet if sleeping) with the sticky giving me my reminder. There are definitely other sketchpad or notepads for the tablet but none with a reminder/alarm possibility (and definitely not with the range of reminder times that I need/want. So, I want to write one or more then likely take something that someone already started and add the alarm capabilities. I would really like to do this with python, hence the question of this post. Are the alarm features available from python or do I need to do c++ coding? C++ would be OK, but I wanted to cut my teeth on a fairly simple (in concept) python script.

Thoughts/suggestions?

AFAIK you're doing C++.

However, it wouldn't be too hard to write an alarm setter utility that causes your Python script to be invoked at the proper time.

ah, very good, thank you. I posted to the pymaemo developers list too (after I found out there was one) and the response I got was that it was a requested feature but not yet implemented. So, your suggestion might be the first pass on what I would like to do.
