Hi,

I've just installed openssh on my n800, os2008. I can connect to my router without any delay, however, when i type command, it takes time to display it and to execute it.
I've already read that some people get a delay on connection, but in my case, connection procedure is fast, but working with ssh is very slow. SSH Commands work but after 5 seconds for each command.

So, is there any one with such problem and how can i resolve it?

By the way, i tried Putty on my desktop and the connection is very fast without any delay. So, the problem is actually with openssh on my n800, client side.

Thanks.

UPDATE: Set Power Saving to OFF, how? See below the Benson post.

The problem is not too sever now. Today, i made the same steps and i was still getting slow command display. However, i left the connection on for few minutes and when i tried a command everything was ok. I guess that there were some background processes which were working and were completed a long time after connection establishment.

Now, i have another issue is how to mount a directory located in n800 on another system using mount.cifs.

SSH connections are very sensitive to WiFi power management. You should turn off power management in the connection settings in the control panel when working with SSH.

or you should better check settings on your router so you can leave power saving enabled to save battery, check if there are any option for enabling power saving mode support and see also beacon interval and DTIM value, do not set it insanely high or bigger lag will appear. beacon iterval*DTIM is how often tablet wakes to check for queued data packets so 200 and 1 (or 100 and 2) makes it 200ms, 200 and 2 makes 400ms packet delay. see also dmesg log on tablet after you connect to network, those values should be logged so you know how they are set, search for 'associated to xx:xx:xx... (bcn xxx msec, DTIM y), I see bcn 100 msec, DTIM 1 here now for some random asus router of my colleague

How can i turn off power management? Is there an option? I set idle time to unlimited, i hope this is it.

I'm still having the same slow connection and really don't understand what i've done yesterday to get fast connection. Perhaps there was less signal interference in night.

Thank you for pointing out the power ssh sensitivity, and i think that if i had the router next to n800, it should work better, i guess.

Is there any idea about "How to mount a n800 directory in a remote router using mount.cifs"?

Thanks.

I don't get you. N800 doesn't use cifs. You could use sshfs if I understand you right.

Thanks qwerty for your help and sorry for my unclear question.

This is my problem:

I have a router with legend Firmware installed on it. This router has small memory and i need to mount a directory on it in order to get things to work.
So, from n800 i'm using ssh to connect to my Legend router. After connecting to it, i tried to mount a directory from n800 on it, using:

mount.cifs //192.168.1.141/home/user/MyDocs/share /mnt/share -o username=root

//192.168.1.141/home/user/MyDocs/share is the shared path on my n800.
/mn/share in the directory in my router.

But i get "mount error 146: connection refused".
I used the same command from my xp desktop and it works, but from n800 it didn't.

So, i hope that things are more clear now.
Thank you for your help. Now that Fanoush and qwerty are helping, i guess i should solve my problem very soon .

Nope; click the wifi-icon, Connectivity settings, Connections, $SSID, Edit, Next, Advanced, Other, and change Power saving.

While you're there, you will see WLAN transmission power; do not turn that down to 10 mW in an effort to save power; it exists for regulatory reasons, but doesn't appreciably reduce power consumption.

Magnifico. Thank you Qwerty, fanoush and Benson. The problem was definitely the power saving. I set it off, and now connection is very smooth.

My remaining problem is how to share a directory from n800 with another linux system.

Thank you again.

Sharing Solved. Thanks to Qwerty and GA.
I used shfsmount instead of mount.cifs and everything worked as expected.

Thanks.
