I tried to search but couldn't find any thread so thought to open another one.

Did anybody really research on that if its possible or not. well Microsoft does have Windows CE version for ARM processor.

In-fact one Chinese company copied N800 and release their product with Windows CE.

Is this really possible (and worth putting efforts) installing Windows CE on N800?

The Chinese company only copied the look. Under the hood their device was a PPC.

Short answer: probably not worth it.

Long answer: It would entail a ton of work including, probably a custom boot loader and some new drivers for WinCE. You would have to pay MS tons of money to get access to the source you'd need and you wouldn't be able to redistribute it without paying another couple million.

But you'd still have a craptacular version of Windows on it, and no way to enhance it.

PPCs use many different processors and believe it or not arm is one of the most common, my first pda (dell axim x10 or what ever it was) had a 300mhz ARM proccessor with clock control built in the processor and winCE. i wouldn't doubt it if you know how to create drivers, then you can defenatly go for it but what is the point really? WinCE has always sucked!

At least the Chinese ripoff put the buttons in the right place (though I might have swapped them for left and right), and put the camera in a good spot. Having that layout (camera and button placements) for the N810 would have been a win.

But, the windows mobile part? Why bother?

Does that Chinese Nokia knock-off even exist in the real world? Has anyone ever held one?
